I cannot tell you how many times I have been bombarded with upcoming promos for the new TV season. Probably equal to you, if you watch TV. I have no sound card, so my old but hangin' in there analog TV has been on blast for most of the day. Well, yesterday, I watched a promo for The New Girl, which I decided was cute and quirky so it's on my list to watch this season, anyway, I noticed at the end that the African American who is usually there had been replaced. Shocked, I was.
So I did a little digging, and it turns out that although they have spent almost the entire summer showing promos with Damon Wayans, Jr., he is actually on another show on ABC. They just now decided to switch to the new guy. There's no footage, it's just a shot with Lamorne Morris. But I am attached to Wayans being one of the characters. It's like on Roseanne, even thought Sarah Chalke was infinitely more prolific than Lecy Goranson, I still preferred Goranson. I feel the same way with Bewitched. I preferred Dick York to Dick Sargent. But Wayans is only in one episode so Morris, at least, won't be coming in as the odd man out. Here's a clip of him.
This information has been available all summer, but you couldn't tell from the promos. I also learned more about Ringer. Again, I was hoping Sarah Michelle Gellar would play the twins throughout the first season, but it doesn't appear to be that way. No matter what my excitement mounts as September looms. What are you looking forward to?
