Chicory As An Alternative To Coffee: Natural Touch Kaffree Roma Review

Chicory has been shown to be a great alternative to coffee. For those of us who want to drink coffee, but can no longer. chicory may work. I believe I have found a few alternatives. All of them contain chicory.

Natural Touch Kaffree Roma Instant Beverage

In a previous post, I tried the free sample tee bags of Teecino. Because two of the three tee bags were horrific, I decided to wait on purchasing the ground version, and focus on other brands. Click here to learn more. One such brand was the Natural Touch Kaffree Roma.

The Kaffree Roma came highly rated on Amazon and Vitacost. I purchased from Vitacost because it was cheaper and I had a code to get ten percent off. I was both giddy with joy (I really missed coffee) and apprehensive. See my Teecino post.

I'd purchased from several brands, including Celestial Seasonings and Yogi Tea. I chose Kaffree Roma first because it had the most reviews, and most of those were positive. First thing you must know, it is not an exact copy of coffee. Nothing is. And all of us know there is a large variety of coffee that doesn't taste like coffee.

Upon opening this instant beverage, which only comes in instant by the way, the smell was light and smelled chicory. The grains also had the same appearance of other instant brand crystals. And when you add a teaspoon to the hot water, it foamed up just like the other instant brand coffees do.

At this point I would add my creamer, but I decided to do a taste test first. Sugar was added. I took a sip. Even though I knew it would not taste like coffee, Kaffree Roma is a close second. There was no creamer, just black, well, brown. It tasted good and the aftertaste wasn't bad, even at lukewarm.

Though it says that chicory has sedative effects, I was up and like coffee drunk on an empty stomach, on my way to a headache. I will have to follow the same protocol I did for coffee: eat with it or before it. People claimed they can drink it at night, but I don't think I will. I also read you can add to coffee and it should lower the caffeine content.

I'm pretty tough when it comes to alternatives, so for this to be a second, it's a second. I've been in testing mode for the past few days, so if it turns yucky with creamer, I will update this post, but like everyone else who reviewed at Vitacost and Amazon, I give Natural Touch Kaffree Roma a 4.8 out of 5. I can only give a 5 when I can't tell the difference, and there's a drawback.

What alternatives have you tried?
