Caffeine Substitute: Cafix All Natural Instant Beverage

In my last post about caffeine substitutes or coffee alternatives, I gave a positive review of Kaffree Roma. I had purchased several brands, and I have tried all but one. Next up in my reviewing of substitutes for coffee is Cafix All Natural Instant Beverage.

Cafix All Natural Instant Beverage

I had such a good time drinking the Kaffree Roma. I was still a little apprehensive, however. I guess the Teecino tee bags had really done a number on me.

I opened the bottle, and I saw that instead of crystals like the Kaffree or instant brand coffees, I saw a fine powder, like hot chocolate. I sniffed and there was a slight chicory smell. As stated in another post, the chicory is a wonderful alternative for those of us needing to stay away from caffeine. Cafix also has malted barley and barley, plus figs and beet root. After adding a spoonful to my cup, I mixed it with sugar, and just like instant coffee and the Kaffree, I got instant foam. Unlike last time, I added some french vanilla coffee creamer.

(This reminds me of hot chocolate)

The taste was good. I will still miss coffee, but not as much, thanks to Cafix. And then on top of that, it also tasted like hot chocolate. Hot chocolate! I've read reviews that people drank the chicory coffee substitutes after dinner, but when I got the headache after drinking Kaffree Roma (which happens when I drink coffee on an empty stomach and I hadn't eaten lunch that day), I didn't think I could do that but Cafix tempts me because of the chocolatey taste. I don't know if it's the barley, malted barley, figs or beet root, but it had a chocolate taste that is much appreciated.

So, now I have two substitutes for coffee. And I did try a Celestial Seasonings brand, so that review is coming down the pike. There are two more brands left to purchase and try. But I might not even need to thanks to Cafix. I give this a 4.8 out of 5, because it doesn't taste exactly like coffee, and for me, there is a risk, well, not a risk so much as an annoyance. Pregnant and nursing women should avoid chicory. But you will be pleased with Cafix if you have to give up coffee and don't want to do that.

What coffee substitutes have you tried? Have you tried Cafix and did you like it?
